ADVENTURES IN MIRAMICHI…land of Rivers, Garlic fingers, and weddings :-)

So after being on the train for 20 odd hours (supposed to be 18 but you know VIA), I finally arrive in the lovely Miramichi. Laura’s mum and Bexy were there at the train station to get me which was really sweet considering I was supposed to be there two and half hours earlier. I got to say a quick hello to the bride and bridesmaids at the house... oh and I fell in love. His name is William and he is 7 months old with killer blue eyes. I love babies.

Anyway after this I went to meet up with Mel at the hotel. I took the bypass, which is s till a highway but it was fine. Fred arrived soon after I did and off they went for a walk, I took a much needed shower and crashed for a little bit.

On their return from their walk soaking wet as there was a freak thunder shower, I felt it was necessary for me to introduce them to the equivalent of Poutine in the Maritimes: GARLIC FINGERS. Oh so yummy. Basically it is like a pizza with cheese and garlic sauce that is cut into these strips. And you dip it in Denair sauce. And we ordered from Greco’s so it was authentic :-)

After frantically brushing all the garlic off, we headed off to the church. I met the groom 30 or so mins before the ceremony which was handy. I somehow always missed meeting him. Thing about being in med school you miss a lot of the ‘jams’.

And then before you knew it Laura was walking down the aisle and Mel was crying, I tried to hold back. She looked so beautiful, her dress, her hair, I am at a loss of words. Also, Bexy looked stunning as well in her bridesmaid dress.

We headed back to the hotel for the reception and open bar. Lets just say open bar before dinner = very shaky dinner. The dinner was lovely, I perhaps overindulged in the wine but it was okay. No scenes.

Than came the dancing: apparently I saved all my tears for the first dance. David and Laura were so cute, so in love, dancing to Lauren Hill. It was really beautiful.

Then once the dance floor opened up to everyone, I do not recall getting off it till 2am when they were about to play the last two slow songs. At the end it was mainly Mel, Fred, the happy couple, and some of the bridal party left. We really cut it up on the dance floor. I had such a fabulous time.

Oh what a night! Congratulations to Laura and David Again!

And No I did not catch the bouquet; I came back from retouching my lip gloss to see them tossing it. There was one girl there who practically lunged for it. It was funny because I think all the other girls took a step back from it.

The next day we had brunch at Laura’s family home and I spent some more time with my new love. Then we set off to Moncton for the girls to catch their flights and me to catch the train. The way back was not too bad actually. I watched all the first season of Grey’s anatomy, and the wedding crashers.
