due to some wierd computer glitches I was NOT able to write the exam today
they kept us there for over 2hours before they told us...grrrrr
so now I must write it on SUNDAY, the day before school starts
I am pissed!

TWO MORE SLEEPS TILL THE USMLE!

I realize that I have become a frequent user of med acronyms so for those who don’t know, the USMLE is actually a set of exams leading to licensing in the states. I am actually taking the Step One which is an 8 hour exam based on the first two years of medical school.

Before you all get up in arms about the shortage in Canadian docs, I assure you I have no plans to move south of the border to practice. I plan on doing my residency in Canada and practice here. It’s just that sometimes after residency many people do a fellowship in their area of specialty. As you can imagine once you specialize and sub-specialize there will be a limited number of places to do a fellowship in your area. Anyway, in the event I must move south for a year to 18months to complete this fellowship I need to have completed all the three steps in the USMLE.

I am just trying to keep my options open really. After all, you never know!

Anyway, I can’t believe school starts next week! August 29 is my first day back, ridiculously early as per usual. Its funny isn’t it? I will be forever in training and will not get a summer between third and fourth year, yet they can’t give us an extra week this summer! Oh well.
