The spiral of life!

Just some thoughts about life, school, and whatever else comes to mind :)

I arrived in New Liskeard on Sunday night and everything has been a go since then. Monday morning bright and early, I reported to the OR (operating room) and literally got right in there. After watching some procedures, I was scrubbing in and actually helping remove an infected appendix. I also got to see patients in the ER since my doc was on call.
Yesterday, I was in the clinic with my doc seeing patients. I got to do some physical exams including my first DRE (ASCM II). Today is another clinic day and we saw a very difficult patient, along with a lot of others.
Tomorrow we are right back in the OR doing some procedres and scopes. I am quite excited, especially now that I know how to scrub in properly. Then Friday is lumps and bumps day. We do a whole day of derm, and take out moles, skin tags, and carcinomas in the clinic. I hope to learn how to suture or inject local anesthetic.
Funny note, I was quizzed on the anatomy of the male today. It was a little embarassing but I knew the corpus this and that.
Also, I met my new role model yesterday. She is amazing! She is a doctor who does tons of international health, rural health, and managed to have kids and a family. WOW. She is making me a little package on HIV/AIDS projects across the globe.
