The end of Rural Week: On my last day, my preceptor gave me the honour of performing a lumpectomy all by myself. I removed a small lump from a lady’s left armpit. I did the whole thing step by step. I injected the anesthetic then proceeded to dissect out the lump, and, icing on the cake, I got to suture the wound closed. I felt like a surgeon, cutting for the very first time, like a surgeon (sing to theme of Madonna’s Like a Virgin). In addition, I got to be Scully from X-files for a brief moment. I was called to act as an expert for the OPP. They had found a bone and were wondering if it was possibly human. Thankfully, I was able to deduce that it belonged to some large quadruped, probably a big deer or a moose. WOW, Rural Week kicks some serious ass, and I thoroughly recommend it to each and everyone.
